‘Through discipline comes freedom.’ - Aristotle
Whenever I have felt stuck in life, I’ve used motivation to get started. Whether it is going to the gym or impulsively starting a new online business. However, I’ve come to realize that motivation works a lot like cocaine.
It hits you early and does not last long. And definitely does not help you grow.
When you look at successful people in life, they are not doing a lot. They typically do only a few things, but they do it over and over again.
Discipline simply is just doing a particular thing repeatedly.
Yes, it is boring as fuck. There’s no novelty involved.
However, being disciplined over a long enough period gives the ultimate novelty experience: freedom. Financial, physical, or emotional.
If you’re looking for freedom of any kind, select a set of actions to get there and keep doing them relentlessly.
You might not get through that door right away, but being disciplined over a long period of time gives you that escape velocity to break down that door.
Hope this helps.
Thank you,
Ameen
